My name’s Nick. For the last decade I’ve been working in radio, but throughout my teens and 20s I played in bands. It started with a school indie band called Hotel Ukraine before expanding in to a 6-piece indie-ska-folk project called Artibella (featuring trombones, violins, ukeleles AND spoons) and then finally an R&B soul outfit by the name of Leisure.

None of these bands got much further than the pub circuit in London, Leeds and then London again respectively, but nevertheless they were some of the most joyful, important and formative days of my life. So I wanted to make this podcast not only to speak to other people about their own attempts at pop stardom, but ultimately as a love letter to young music making.
